About the Course
Lesson 1: Demonstrate an understanding of different types of access scaffolding, applications , limitation, design and compliance
Types of access scaffolding, including specially designed scaffolding are described in terms of their characteristics and applications.
Types of access scaffolding, including specially designed scaffolding are described in terms of their limitations according to SANS 10085.
Access scaffolding components are identified and described in terms of their safe working loads and their applications as per SANS 10085.
Classification for Access Scaffolding platforms and the loading limitations for access scaffolds with multi-level platforms are identified and described as per SANS 10085.
Stability requirements are described and explained as per the regulatory framework with particular.
Lesson 2: Explain the roles and responsibilities of the inspector
The role of the access scaffold inspector is analysed in relation to the SANS 10085
The responsibilities of the access scaffold inspector are identified and explained in relation to the SANS 10085
Access scaffold documentation and signage is explained according to SANS 10085 and workplace procedures. Documentation and signage include:
Access scaffolding inspection register
Handover certificates
Green tags
Lesson 3: Read and interpret drawings, client requirements and other specifications
Details and dimensions of access scaffold design are interpreted in relation to the drawings, specifications and according to client requirements
Access scaffolding equipment is identified and applied according to drawings, specifications and/or client requirements
Safe working loads on platforms and total loading on uprights are calculated in relation to the drawings, specifications and/or client requirements
Lesson 4: Inspect and handover access scaffolding
Access scaffolding works are inspected for compliance with drawings, specifications and/or client requirements and cross-referenced to SANS 10085
Modified access scaffolding systems are re-inspected in accordance with safety legislation requirements and SANS 10085
Access Scaffolding Register and Handover Certificate are completed after inspection and re-inspection, issued and signed off in accordance with safety legislation requirements and SANS 10085
Engineers Certificates/Reports are obtained when required for special design scaffold in accordance with safety legislation and SANS 10085.
